Hey heyy, welcome! On the blog you'll find all the info you need on eloping in Alaska, couples photos and adventures! Want to see the day to day? Follow below!
Tori and I have been fast friends since we met in Homer when we were in high school! Originally I was supposed to photograph her & Lee’s wedding. Of course, COVID happened (what else would you expect at this point??). They ended up eloping in Homer in May of 2020! Thankfully not even a panorama could affect this couple’s perfect setting for the winter wedding photos of their dreams.
They planned on having a reception sometime after their elopement, but they decided against it. So we went camping together with our Jeeps instead! Can you tell they’re the classic, cool, outdoorsy Alaskan folks? Talk about a rad back up plan!!
Why a post-elopement adventure session?!
You may not even know that post-wedding or post-elopement adventure sessions are a thing – but they TOTALLY are!! Adventure sessions after your wedding/elopement day have sooo many benefits:
Bonus wedding photos! Who doesn’t want more wedding photos?! Adventure sessions give you the chance to put on your wedding attire again (if you want to!). So you can get even more stunning memories captured, at a different location.
Intentional time to be together (in private): If you invited guests to your actual wedding day, an adventure session provides the perfect opportunity to have some time alone to celebrate! Plus you get this intentional time to focus on each other & be together in the present, especially if you had a somewhat crazy wedding day.
Freedom to go on an adventure: wedding days often have some sort of schedule to follow, or at the very least you’re simply limited by time. Adventure sessions give you the chance to take more time to adventure, and to visit a new place if you want to!
We did Tori & Lee’s winter wedding adventure session at two of my favorite spots for photos, Hatcher Pass & Eklutna Lake. They camp in their Jeep whenever they get the chance, so I thought these would be the perfect places to explore & then settle in for the night!! And they got to bring along their dog Jim which was a big plus – he’s always along for their adventures!
Just because an adventure session isn’t a wedding, doesn’t mean you can’t bring along some gorgeous flowers!!
Tori hired Paper Peony to put together the most amazing flower crown for her to wear, filled with red & white roses that looked perfect against the Alaskan landscape. I loved how simple this crown was, yet how much beauty it added to Tori & Lee’s Alaska wedding photos!
