Matanuska Glacier Park has always been one of my very favorite places to visit. It is a little distant, but oh so very worth it. When Gabby and Dalton got engaged and broke the news I was SO freaking excited for them. Then when they decided on Matanuska Glacier it just added to the excitement. I’ve watched their relationship start and flourish over the time they’ve been together and it’s seriously been so awesome.
I love being a part of friends’ love stories. It’s so great to have that foundation of an existing friendship and comfortableness together. If you’ve ever met these two you know that their chemistry and their love is undeniable. Their patience and love for each other are so special.
Exploring Matanuska Glacier Park was pretty epic, we forgot ice clamps so it was a little sketch, but that’s okay! It was nice to get out to a far off location that I don’t get to visit often and make some magic. The glacier lakes/ponds and ice faces are majestic and the perfect setting for a romantic engagement session. It truly is the perfect location to display the beauty of Alaska and make some great memories taking beautiful photos.
At the park, you have a couple of options, a self-guided tour where you can walk certain paths by yourself, or a guided tour where you get to walk the entirety of the path system. I highly recommend both for different reasons. If you want to have a full day of some exploring and stop for photos and picnics, then the self-guided allows unlimited time. The guided tour is usually an hour to an hour and a half and you get to stop a few times and see crevasses (WORTH IT!). If you’ve visited Matanuska Glacier Park, what was your favorite part?
