When Kelly of Petals by The Shore contacted me about this styled shoot in Homer I immediately jumped on it. First of all, I LOVE peonies. I actually worked on a peony farm growing up, it was my first job. Weeding may not have been my favorite, but being surrounded by delicious blooms was pretty dreamy. Second of all, I grew up there so I have friends and family I love visiting.
That morning when I woke up and looked out my window, I groaned. It was misty and foggy and downright gloomy. Don’t get me wrong, I love fog, but I thought for sure it would rain on our parade. I was pleasantly surprised though. The peony field at Scenic Place Peonies was exploding with gorgeous duchess blooms that were encased in a light misty fog. It gave a beautifully whimsical air to the shoot. Our model, Chelsea, popped against the hazy green background in the pink gown and amongst the peonies. The intense colors of the bouquet and flower crown went so nicely with the muted background of the peony field that they just seem to be jumping right out of the images.
It was this session that further encouraged me to not worry too much about what the weather is doing. More often than not mother nature has its own idea of what’s going to go down. Despite the chill and light mist, the shoot was absolute magic, and I cannot express how happy I am to have been a part of it! It may not have been what we originally envisioned, it was a hundred times better.
