Emily & Jordan’s Kodiak, Alaska Elopement
About the couple
I always love to ask my couples about their love story in their own words, because obviously, they know it best!
Emily told me that she fell in love hard & fast after giving him a haircut right before COVID hit, then talking every day after that during the lockdown. When the state started to loosen up restrictions in the summer, they jumped right in with both feet – and from their first adventure they went on together (a boat trip on the 4th of July), she knew that she was going to marry him!
A change of plans – thanks, COVID
Emily and Jordan had originally planned on having a backyard wedding with more friends and family members – butttt plans shifted, of course, and they ended up having a very intimate elopement day. So right from the get-go, these two were fantastic at going with the flow, being flexible, and adapting to what they were hit with – the recipe for an amazing elopement no matter the circumstances!
An intimate Kodiak, Alaska wedding ceremony
After having a super chill & fun time getting ready in the morning, we transitioned to an intimate ceremony with a handful of people in Kodiak. Emily looked STUNNING in her dress from Anderson Bridal, and Jordan killed it with a simple white shirt + rust orange suspenders. The views of the mountains + water behind them were sooo stunning, and the overcast sky gave us the softest light!
A beach campfire to end the night
Then guess what – even MORE plans changed. We had planned on flying out for the evening portion of their elopement, but the weather had other plans.
Once we heard that flying out somewhere wasn’t a possibility anymore due to the winds, we drove up to Pillar Mountain instead. We got whipped around by the freezing cold for a bit up there and then finished off the night by heading to a beach for a campfire. It was sooo fun to end the day with a champagne pop, laughter & s’mores around the fire. I loved getting to spend time with them and their family!
This day was the perfect example of the fact that elopements are what you make them! There is no strict timeline you have to adhere to – and even if there was, elopements are alllll about being flexible + ready to adapt. With no expectations from guests and no limitations, you, your honey, and your loved ones get to enjoy a day full of love no matter the circumstances – just like Emily & Jordan did despite the unpredictable weather!
Sweet words from the bride
Thanks to Emily for the kindest review – when my couples leave reviews for me it warms my heart MORE than you know!
“Donna was absolutely AMAZING to work with ❤️ Things changed for us with the pandemic and Donna was amazing with going with the flow and still traveling down to Kodiak. Our photos turned out incredible and we couldn’t be happier with our choice of Donna. She is so much fun and really loves what she does!”
